Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue & Government Street Intersection Closed

The City of Ocean Springs wil begin to replace the crosswalks in the downtown area starting January 2024. The bricks are being replaced due to pedestrian safety reasons. The project will consist of removing the brick crosswalks and replacing them with stamped concrete.

There are 4 intersections included in this project: Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue and Government Street, Washington Avenue and Robinson Street, Washington Avenue and Government Street, and Washington Avenue and Porter Avenue.

During construction, only one intersection will be done at a time. The work for each intersection will begin on a Monday. The estimated construction time per intersection wil be 3 days. During the work the intersection will be completely closed and will reopen once complete.

Start dates for each intersection:

Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue and Government Street - Monday January 8, 2024
Washington Avenue and Robinson Street - Monday January 22, 2024
Washington Avenue and Government Street - Monday January 29, 2024 Washington Avenue and Porter Avenue - Monday February 19, 2024
